About my website

This site presents a selection of my photographs chosen in my collection of catches of sight covering one period wich his spread out over several decades.

Since my beginnings, of course silver technology, especially in black and white, until today numerically.

The first photographs are of a style very different from that wich I practise now, but I made a point of presenting the samples of them, because I do not disavow the perception of the photografic art wich I had at that time.

Surrealism, metaphysical painting and the phantasmagoric painting of Jerôme Bosch always fascinated me and inevitably influenced my work. Only in Belgium the surrealists are legion. Magritte, Delvaux... to quote only them, with regard to metaphysical painting, especially Giorgio De Chirico, Carlo Carrà...and Man Ray photographs some who revolutionized the image processing in this discipline.

I already usually practised solarization, the multiexposition, and the assembly into silver technology in my darkroom, and also carried out on multiple shuts and special effects at the time of the catch of sight. Since the advent of digital, became a senior user of Photoshop.

My format of predilection was the average format: 6 x 6 - 56 x 72 - 6,5 x 9 - 24 x 36 much less.

Used devices: Rolleiflex T - Leica M2 - Mamya press - Linhof 220 - Linhof Super-Technika 5 - Mamya Auto XTL - Pentax - Sony DSC S70 - Sony DSC F828 - Sony HX100 - Sony HX400 - Nikon D800.

It is obvious that my site does not contain only artistic photography, but comprises other shutters, as "hunting for the image", "nature", "portraits" and others are in gestation !

The site is not finished, and does not risk to be it of as soon as, I will continue to feed it with other extracts of my existing collection, my last catches of sight and new combinations of composite photographs.

If you seek my coordonnées, they are in the bottom of the pages "Samples" -  or click on this button

With the hope that certain photographs speak to you,

René Olbrechts
